Awajishima Burger Awajishima Onion Kitchen was featured in the Asahi Shimbun on Tuesday, June 4, 2019.

Awaji Island is known as a treasure trove of delicious foods such as onions and beef. At "Roadside Station Uzushio" (Fukura Hei, Minami-Awaji City, Hyogo Prefecture), located on a cape facing the Naruto Straits, is the Awajishima Onion Kitchen, a store selling a variety of local burgers made with ingredients from the island.
The burger with Awaji beef steak sandwiched in between is unique among the 200,000 burgers sold annually. Weighing approximately 250 grams, the thick meat protrudes from the bun. The ribeye, grilled simply with salt and pepper, is tender and full of meaty flavor.
The dish is served with slices of sweet Awaji Island onions and lettuce for 3,240 yen, tax included, and is limited to one per day. Yuuji Miyaji, 34, the owner of the burger store, says, "Take a big bite and enjoy the blissful moment. Another popular item is the Awajishima Onion Beef Burger, which won first place at the Tottori Burger Festa, a local burger festival.
